What shines today like a gem in the city is the mausoleum of the epic poet Ferdowsi who has long drawn the attention of lovers of Persian art and literature. Hundreds of tourists flock into the region to visit the mausoleum besides other numerous cultural and historical monuments every year.

Great figures in the history of Iran such as Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi, Khajeh Nezam al-Molk Tusi, Ahmad Ghazali Tusi, and Mohammad Ghazali Tusi have played major role in boosting knowledge, culture, wisdom, and politics of their homeland.

The city was surrounded by a 7km long wall with several gates 5 of which have been already identified.

Following long endeavors of archaeologists, the huge mansion of Arg-e Hokmrani was unearthed and can be visited by tourists now. Harounieh Monument located besides the boulevard leading to the Ferdosi Mausoleum portrays the architecture style of the Ilkhanid era.

Just off the city, other historical spots such as Paj Village (birthplace of Ferdowsi), Akhangan Tower, Gol Asb Water Spring, and an old caravansary also enhance the beauty of the city.
